Am 2. August 2011 hat in der Open Design City ein Workshop zum experimentellen Lastenrad-bau stattgefunden. 
Ziel war aus Einkaufswagen (gebraucht erworben, nicht entwendet!)und Alt-Rädern funktionstüchtige Lastenräder zu bauen.

The cause is that the axis of the steering is not perpendicular (senkrecht), but (with a normal bike) slightly tilted to the back. This combined with the long wheelbase (radstand) makes the bike tilt when riding curves, especially its more difficult if trail (Nachlauf) is reduced too much or even negative. 

We already got this down some level by shortening the wheelbase, effectively improving trail. also, when the cart is loaded (e.g. with a passenger) its not such a problem. i think that if the stem (vorbau) is not attached to the cart handle but a bit lower, for example on the top metal wire, the axis gets more perpendicular. also, a mountain bike may already have better caster angle (rake, Lenkkopfwinkel nicht viel weniger als 90 grad), so possibly its also about picking the right bike.

it's a bit not-so-simple to have front wheel brakes 
there's not much space left on the side of the fork 
need to have two brakes which brake with the same strength (?) 
possibly the two-fork design has space to attach brakes. also, possibly could work even if its two separate brake handles (whats that called?), then one can also steer with it.

its not such a big issue i think. but one could add a small wheel (e.g. shopping cart wheel on longer tube) and attach it to the front, such that when riding normally it would be a few inches in the air.

dass etwas anders aufgebaut ist und anscheinend gut funktioniert.
