Hi! I'm Antoine from Lyon in France, I'm a training engineer but I'm now working as bike mechanics in a shop. Last month, we had to move with my girlfriend in a new house 11km from the old one.Because we love biking and bikes, carrying things on bikes and we hate cars in cities, we moved by bike !

We were already well equipped (few cargo bikes with "classic" trailers, kids trailers,...) but how to carry a double mattress during 11km ? With a carla cargo! I knew carla cargo by research about cargo bikes and particulary with the great wiki http://werkstatt-lastenrad.de (Long André). I have already built some of specials bikes as cargo bikes, recumbent bikes or tandems but this carla cargo trailer was my first real trailer. But what a trailer !

I took inspiration with photos and specifications, but to carry my mattress, I extended the cargo area : 1m50 x 2m. Yes, you can simply put my double mattress on the trailer. Larger than a twingo but smaller than a Duster, I've check !!

I built it in a week with recovery steel (bedspring), I had to buy only the hitch-trailer, I made the hitch arm with a 20" bolted to a tube.

My move was fun and with no problems, we tested the trailer with loads up to 200kg, only the spokes suffered a little. The real advantage of the carla cargo trailer more than its cargo area, is its stability. Three wheels, stable. That's particulary interesting when you load or unload the trailer, but also when you have to move it by hand. Morever, the fact that the trailer can turn by itself (the front fork) allows you to ride everywhere. I could make a half-turn in my parking undergrounds

My trailer wasn't motorised but I'm thinking about it, for overrunbrakes, it will be more complicated!

Thank you for inspiration Carla Cargo, you design a great trailer. And you make it open source. Well done!
